5 Reasons You Should Study Finance

Education matters and, regardless of what some people out there may say, higher education still makes a difference. It may not offer you the perfect job right from the moment you have graduated and, in most of the cases you might find yourself with a bit of a student loan. But, overall, people with a college diploma do make more money than people with a high school diploma only.

Choosing your main area of study can be difficult for most of the to-be students out there. The harsh truth is that there are numerous courses you can study – but the reality is that many of them probably wont lead to a job.

Choosing to study finance can be a great choice and even if things are not very clear for you right now, in time you definitely start feeling clearer about what is right for your future.  But until then, you should keep yourself informed of the various courses you can take in college because only this way can you make an educated decision. Consider studying a MSc accounting and finance course or something equally diverse to keep job prospects open. So, what is it that makes the broad field of finance so attractive? Read on and find out more.

Job Prospects

Studying finance can be a very good choice from the point of view of the job prospects. Just think of it: money makes the world go round and, as a finance specialist, you have the insight on how exactly money does that. Even more, studies show that there is an increase in the number of jobs in the finance field and that such a degree has a very good chance of being very much sought after in a few years from now.

You Will Let Your Personality Shine

Most of the people live with the belief that people with a degree in finance are not sociable and that they don’t interact much with other people. However, this is completely false. As a matter of fact, as a finance specialist (in any of the sub-sectors of this field), you will have to know how to bear a conversation, how to socialize with people, how to empathize with them, how to talk on various subjects and so on. In other words, you really have to be a people-person and you really have to let your personality shine through.

Large Array of Jobs

People with a degree in finance get many types of jobs, some of which include the following: corporate management, investment services, credit unions, private banks, brokerage firms, insurance companies and so on.

You Want to Do Business

“When I grow up, I want to become a business man or a business woman” – if this sounds familiar to you (even if you never spelled it out because maybe you were already too old for such questions when you realized that you want to do it), then a degree in finance is for you. Business and finance go perfectly together and such a degree can give you the theoretical frame to put your big ideas into practice.

It Is Financially Rewarding

Yes, people with degrees in finances do tend to earn quite a lot of money. A financial manager can make, on average, somewhere around $104,000. A personal financial advisor will make on average approximately $64,000. And a financial analyst can earn, on average, around $74,000. Considering today’s economy, those are good salaries and a lot of people would not even dare dreaming of them, so if you know that you will want to be well-paid, then a degree in finance is for you.
