How to Get Glowing Skin

Glowing skin might be easy to achieve when the sun is shining, but as soon as it sets, you need a new plan in place to get that lustrous glow.

Here are four steps to take if you’re after beautiful, radiant skin.

Nurture natural radiance

Many people think glowing skin is just a matter of dusting on some highlighter, but it actually goes much deeper than that. To have glowing skin with and without makeup, you need to start with the skin.

Your skincare routine has a lot to do with the dewy qualities of your skin. To promote a luminous complexion, you’ll want to add products that hydrate, brighten, and exfoliate, products that will make your skin look and feel clearer

Exfoliating your skin is a must. Exfoliators wash away all the dead skin that sits on the surface, allowing new, youthful skin to shine through. Depending on the type of exfoliator you use, a daily or weekly habit should already be a part of your routine.

After you’ve exfoliated, add nourishment to your skin with a moisturiser. Moisturisers might seem too simple, but believe it or not, hydration is actually a key part of glowing skin. When skin is hydrated, it’s plump and vibrant rather than dull.

Serums are also ideal for promoting glowing skin because they penetrate deep to provide moisture and nourishment. Many even fight the signs of ageing for skin that’s young and bright.

Masques are a must

For naturally glowing skin, masques are a must. They use the advantage of time to sink into the skin and provide serious face glow benefits.

Brightening masques are excellent for glowing skin because they include ingredients that encourage natural radiance. Intense hydrating masques are also ideal because they infuse the skin with the moisture that makes it look healthy and illuminated.

Try using a masque just a few times a week to improve your natural complexion and glow. Plus, masques give you a mini-spa session with every use.

Prep and prime

There are plenty of makeup items that help you achieve glowing skin, but the first step in creating a glowing makeup look happens before you apply any makeup at all.

Prepping and priming the skin are essential if you want your end result to be a soft, flawless, and glowing complexion. Begin with your moisturiser to hydrate the skin. Wait a few minutes for it to fully absorb into the skin, and then apply a primer.

Primer is essential in creating that airbrushed, sun-kissed look. If you have oily skin, choose a primer that regulates the skin. If you have dry skin, pick a hydrating primer that moisturises underneath your makeup.

Glow up your makeup

Perhaps the easiest way to make your skin glow is with cosmetics. Many products contain pigments, powders, and pearls that add a touch of shimmer and serious glow.

The most common of these products is highlighter. Highlighter makeup offers a reflective finish that instantly illuminates the skin. Liquid highlighter and cream highlighter provide high-impact pay-off, while highlighter powder gives you an ethereal dusting of shimmer.

Choose a product that offers golden highlights for a summery, bronzed glow, and one with pink highlights for something lighter and more playful.

If you’re looking for a more natural glow, consider your foundation. Foundation exists to create a flawless base for our makeup look, but it can also be used to add a bit of glow to our entire face.

Try mixing your liquid foundation with just a bit of illuminator for an all-over enviable glow.

Give your skincare and makeup the glow treatment for a beautifully luminous look.
