2018 was a difficult year for many people. If you found it difficult to juggle everything in your life and you’ve gotten a little out of shape, this post is for you. Here are some top ways to get in shape in 2019:
Exercise with friends
Are you finding it tough to find time to socialize and workout? It may be a good idea to combine both of these things. Talk to your friends about your goal to get in shape next year, and see if any of them are interested in the same goal. You’re likely to find at least a couple of friends who would also like to get back in shape, so why not exercise together? Consider joining a gym near work, or perhaps signing up for a 5k and training together.
While most of us need to exercise more, one of the best ways to convince yourself to get back to the gym is to set goals that are attainable. Maybe you’d really like to be able to squat or deadlift your bodyweight, or you’d simply like to lose a certain percentage of fat. Whatever it is, make sure that you have goals set in place, along with milestones along the way to help you get there.
Try new things
Always wanted to try pole dancing? This is a seriously incredible way to build upper body strength. Maybe you’ve always wanted to be the type of person who does long bike rides? There are plenty of hybrid bikes for sale. Whether you’re new to exercise or simply bored of the same-old-same-old, make 2019 the year you try new activities so you can find something that will help you stay in shape.
Constantly be active
If you work in an office, you probably spend a large chunk of your week sitting down. But did you know that studies have shown the dangers of sitting all day are comparable to smoking? If your job involves hours of sitting at work, make sure you take plenty of time to walk around the office and see if you can get a standing desk. Another good option? Consider an active commute. See if you can get your hands on a women’s bicycle or even a dutch style bike so you can bike to work. This is a great way to ensure you get some exercise throughout the day so you can get in shape and keep your heart healthy.
