Say What You Mean with Flowers

Flowers make an excellent gift, regardless of who is receiving them. In a world where we’re consistently using technology to send each other quick messages on Facebook, Whatsapp and text, it often feels like we’re losing our ability to actually tell each other what we mean.

Regardless of how well you know a person, it can sometimes be difficult to tell them how you’re feeling. While telling someone “Happy Birthday” is easy, if the person you’re buying flowers for has recently lost someone special in their lives, is dealing with an illness or injury, or simply doesn’t seem open to communication, a nice bunch of flowers can say all the things you can’t.

The flowers you choose also tell a person exactly how you feel about them. We all know that red roses signify love and passion, so if you’re wanting to take your relationship with that special someone to the next level, a bunch of long-stemmed, romantic roses delivered to them at work can make their whole week (without you needing to spell out the way that you feel).

Flowers used to die very quickly, and while they still don’t last forever, changes in the way that they’re bred and the technology used have given them a much longer life- especially if they’re looked after.

If you’re buying flowers for a specific person, and you’re not sure what type of flowers are appropriate, feel free to talk to an experienced florist. These guys are experts in different arrangements and blooms, and can give you some great ideas or at least steer you in the right direction if you tell them why you’re buying the flowers.

Keep in mind that you don’t need to wait for someone to buy you flowers, and if you’re feeling down, want to celebrate a win, or simply want to brighten up your home, there’s no reason why you can’t order yourself some flowers. Once they arrive, be sure to cut the stems at an angle, trim off any leaves that would fall into the water, change the water and clean the vase daily, and give them the flower food that is usually delivered with them.

Flowers also work great if you’re the type to forget birthdays, anniversaries, and other key dates. If you’re the forgetful type, you can order online on the day of the special occasion and get flowers delivered that day- meaning the only one who will know that you forgot is you.

One of the best things about ordering flowers these days is the amount of things you can add. Many florists will have the option of adding chocolates, fruit, a teddy bear or other special items to your order, and you can also write a sweet message in the card- meaning you’ve covered all of your bases (without even having to leave the house). Many florists will also be able to help you out if you have any other special requests for your recipient as well.
