Tips for organising a surprise party

Planning a surprise party? If you’d like to make a friend or family member’s birthday super special, a surprise party is one of the best ways to do it. But there are a number of things you’ll need to remember in order to make sure it’s a success. Here are some top tips for organising a surprise party:

Find a great location

Your location is one of those things that can make or break a surprise party. But choosing the best party houses can be a tough job if you’re not used to party planning. It’s a good idea to look for large houses to rent uk so you have plenty of room for everyone and your surprisee will be even more impressed when they arrive. This also means you’re free to decorate and prepare for the party without worrying that the person you’re surprising will notice that something is up.

Shhhh

The most important aspect of planning a surprise party? Keep it quiet. Don’t talk about it, and make sure that all party guests are keeping it secret as well. Ensure that you delete any emails regarding the surprise and don’t leave any information lying around where it could be found by the person you’re trying to surprise.

Be prepared

Ideally, you’ll have an accomplice who can help you with organising the party. That way, one person can distract the guest of honor while the other person sets up for the party and coordinates all the guests.

Make sure all guests know it’s a surprise party and that they must arrive by a certain time in order to be there for the surprise. If your friends are notoriously late, it can be a good idea to tell them to come half an hour earlier than necessary.

Cater smart

Surprise parties are one of the best times to get creative with your food and drink. Focus on food that you know your surprise guest loves- whether that means ice cream sundaes and caviar or mac ‘n’ cheese and chocolate. It’s also a good idea to create a signature cocktail or serve their favorite drink. If you know your guest of honor loves Mexican food, serving quesadillas and margaritas is an excellent option.

Organise a ride

You’ll also need to think about how everyone will get to and from the party- especially if there will be a lot of drinking. This includes the guest of honor- you’ll need to ensure they have a ride home. It can sometimes be worth hiring a shuttle if your surprise party is in a remote location.
