A Few Practical Packing Tips

Travel is wonderful. It provides you with the chance to explore meet new people and open your mind to other ways of living. But, there is one thing that is almost universally detested by travelers and that is packing. Luckily, the more you do it the easier it gets. You pick up tips and tricks, which makes packing less of a nightmare. So, today, I thought I would share a few of mine.

Always back decent underwear

If you are going on a long trip, always pack good quality underwear, like the kind you can see here. You will be washing it out every few days. Plus, each item will be subjected to a higher than normal level of wear and tear. Tracking down new underwear that you like is not always easy, especially when traveling to far-flung places. So, ideally, you want your underwear to be able to last for your entire trip.

Be prepared for delays and the unexpected

You need to be ready for the unexpected. If your plane or coach gets delayed, you will want to have a few things to hand. For example, some cash, a power bank for your phone, something to eat and drink will all help you to get through a delay. If your case goes missing, having a set of underwear, a t-shirt and a couple of days medication will all help you to get through until it turns up.

Be ready for all weather conditions

Regardless of where you are traveling to, you cannot be 100% certain of what the weather will be like. It is therefore best to pack some lightweight waterproofs, a jumper, a hat, sunglasses and sun block.

Pay attention to your footwear

There is nothing worse than having aching, blistered or bleeding feet. Most people spend more time walking when they are away from home. So, you need to look after your feet well. That means choosing your footwear carefully and always wearing in your boots, shoes or sandals before your trip.

Invest in a good bag

If you are planning a long trip, invest in good quality luggage. You are going to be packing and unpacking a lot. In time, you will have a place for everything and be able to get it done in a matter of minutes. When it is time to give up your trusty bag because the zip has broken you will definitely miss it. Your bag, case or backpack should have good handles or straps. It needs to be able to withstand going through the airport luggage handling process multiple times.

Make a list

Whether you are going away for a weekend, or on a round the world trip, making a packing list will really help you out. Downloading a packing template from the internet is the best way to do this. When you find one that you like you can edit it to suit your needs.
