Why more and more females are buying motorcycles

If you’re a woman and you’re thinking about buying a motorcycle, you’re not alone. more women than ever are choosing to trade their cars in for motorcycles, and are enjoying their new found freedom, adventure, independence, friends, and confidence.

And it’s not just a young woman’s game either. Many of the women who are currently learning to ride are in their 30s to 60s, and are defying social stereotypes and cultural expectations while embracing the freedom of the road.

While we’re seeing more women than ever on motorcycles, it is also important to note that woman have been riding for quite some time, just not in the numbers that we’re seeing today.

The good news? Riding a motorcycle has a number of benefits that many people may not have considered. Firstly, your gas bill is likely to plummet, which also means that you’ll be kinder to the environment. Your vehicle maintenance costs are also likely to take a downward swing, as you’ll be able to buy things like motorcycle accessories and OEM motorcycle parts online (be sure to check out BikeBandit.com).

Along with fewer costs, you’re likely to meet a number of like-minded women who also love to ride. It’s estimated that approximately 12% of motorcycle owners are women in the United States, and that number is expected to continue to grow this year. 1 in 4 riders and passengers are women, and when you look at the number of purchases that are either made or highly influenced by women, you can expect a number of around 25%.

IN 2013, Harley Davidson surveyed some of the 6.7 million women who operated a motorcycle. 37% of these women reported that they always felt happy, which is almost double the number of women who don’t ride motorcycles- this was just 16%.

Another big difference? Confidence. 35% of the female motorcycle riders surveyed said that they always feel confident, which is huge compared to the women who don’t ride, since just 18% said the same.

Communication is another big benefit, and the study showed that 60% of women reported being content with the communication they had with their significant other, while just 38% of non-riders could say the same.

It’s a crazy world we live in, and we all have a number of responsibilities keeping us busy every day. For those who have been trying and failing to get the hang of meditation, you’ll be happy to know that more than 33% of women who own motorcycles said that they were less stressed after going for a ride, and 50% reported that they were currently extremely satisfied with all of their relationships. Many of these women said that their motorcycle was one of their key sources of happiness (50%), and almost 75% of female riders believe that their lives have shown improvement since they bought their bikes.

If you’ve been thinking about buying a motorcycle but you’re not sure if it will have a positive impact on your life, hopefully the statistics above have helped convince you of the many benefits of owning and riding a motorcycle as a woman.
