5 Fun Hobbies To Keep You Fit And Healthy

There’s no magic pill for healthiness, and to a certain degree you do have to put a little bit of effort in. But that doesn’t mean staying fit and healthy can’t be a fun experience. Before you send away for your fourth abdominal crunch machine, check out these five fun hobbies that can help keep you fit and healthy in 2014. Grab some new gear and prepare to break a sweat without feeling as though you’ve involuntarily joined some sort of army drill.

Skateboarding

Hit the bowls or cruise around the streets. Skating has always been a great way to work out the body and the mind, burning calories without ever feeling as though you’re doing any work. Make a morning or afternoon skate a part of your get healthy program. The best part about skating as an exercising is that you’ll look really cool while you’re working out. Now you can’t say that about a rowing machine. If skating seems like a sure-thing for you, don’t opt for those dodgy toy store boards, head to a reputable board maker like Z-Flex Skateboards to find the right style for you.

Jogging

On paper, a little bit of pavement pounding mightn’t seem like the most pleasurable way to stay fit and healthy, but jogging doesn’t have to be a chore. When you’re going out for your next run slip a pair of earphones in and pump your favourite tunes. Turn your morning run into your own private, portable dance party. And if you hang around long enough, that endorphin kick is going to be worth the price of admission alone.

Weekend Sport

Grab a bunch of your closest friends and become the ultimate weekend warriors. It doesn’t matter what sport you’re doing as long as you’re having fun with it. Basketball, soccer, football, tennis – choose something that requires teamwork and something you and your friends are going to enjoy. You might even make some new friends (or arch rivals) along the way.

Rock Climbing

Maybe the answer is getting a little bit more vertical with your workout. There are plenty of rock climbing gyms around your local area, where you can mix it up with some serious cliff-hangers. Rock climbing provides you with a serious workout for the whole body and makes a great option for anyone looking to get fit and healthy in 2014. Once you’ve mastered the indoor climbs, why not head outdoors or try bouldering for the ultimate challenge. You’ll be feeling like Spiderman in no time.

Dancing

Get your groove on. If you feel as though you have two left feet take a salsa class or if you’re an experienced mover and shaker simply head out to town on a night with your friends. Getting down and moving your body is actually a serious calorie burner and another way to break a sweat while looking really cool. If there’s a more enjoyable way to stay fit and healthy in 2014, we haven’t heard about it.
