Tips for Tidying Up Your Office

Your office is the place where you spend a large part of the day. It is the place where you earn your living (hopefully, doing something you enjoy). It is the place that “eats up” hours and hours of your life – so you definitely want to use all this time in a productive and efficient way.

Regardless of what some may think, a tidy office is the result of a tidy mind (and the mind can actually be influenced by how tidy the office is too). In other words, an office that looks like a mess will most likely affect your ability to work properly as well. If you work in a commercial environment, you may find it helpful to invest in some professional cleaning to ensure that your workspace is tidy and productivity is high.

How to tidy up your office? How to do it as fast and as efficiently as possible? We have gathered some of the best tips for you to know so read on if you want to find out more.

Make a plan

If your office is very, very untidy, you should start by looking at it and creating a plan on what you want to attack first and how. Make sure the plan does not remain in the “paper phase” only and that you actually stick to it too. It may be a bit more difficult to start yourself off, but it is really important that you keep on going because it will really affect the way you work.

Sort out everything

Have a bit of patience and don’t toss anything in the trash bin right away. Sort out your items and make sure they are “fit” to be tossed away. Every single document could be very important and it could mean a lot for your company, so don’t throw away anything unless you are absolutely certain it is completely useless (no, your doodle creations do not count as “useful”).

Get the right office

A small and improperly organized office will lead to untidiness again, so it is worth investing in an office that’s just large enough for all of the items you need. And if you or your boss do not want to invest in an actually new office, keep in mind that smart shelving options are more than great. Basically, the adjustable shelving will allow you to create compartments to organize all of your stuff much better. Moreover, these shelving options are not expensive at all and they will be more than useful as well.

Add a touch of personality

Your office rules may be really tough and you may not be able to cover your entire office desk in pink foil, but there are still some things you can do to add a bit of personality to the place you worked so hard on cleaning up. A small flower pot, a special mug, fun colored pencils – all these things can make a difference and they can make your office a much more pleasant and welcoming place. And while these things may sound like mere silliness, the truth is that they will actually help you like your job more.
