Expensive Healthcare Insurance Premiums? A Tax May Be Responsible.

It is not uncommon for tax issues to affect the lives of a lot of people in ways that are often unpredictable. According to studies complied by Northeastern University, issues with tax codes caused the fossil fuel tax to allow fossil fuel companies to form Master Limited Partnerships or MLPs and avoid taxes altogether. On the other hand, companies producing green energy don’t have the same ability to form MLPs, causing the cost of producing green energy to go higher.

The same set of tax issues can be found in healthcare. If you think your insurance premium is too high, the taxes your healthcare insurance companies have to pay could be the culprit. The Affordable Healthcare Act added this tax in 2014. The individual coverage premium is expected to increase all the way to $200 in 2018 because of this tax.
