Home sweet home!
We spend a huge amount of time within our own four walls, and we like to take pride in what is inside it, on the walls, outside it, and generally the feel of it. Of course we want to show off our personality and make the whole place just feel literally like ‘home’. It’s not a building, it’s not four walls, it is a home.
As we get a bit older, our needs change, and it’s important to move things around a bit, swap and change, and purchase items that help make mobility and comfort easier within our homes.
So, what three things can you do to make your home that little bit more comfortable as you get that little bit older?
Think adjustable
Where is it that we retire to at night, the place where we close our eyes and dream, disappear off to far flung lands whilst our body rests? Our bed of course. My bed is my favourite place in the world, so it makes perfect sense to me that you’d want to buy a bed that is the most comfortable for you, not only now, but in years to come. How can you do that? Well, why not think about adjustable beds for seniors? This is perfect because you can alter the position to suit your comfort level, which will fluctuate obviously. Saves money buying a new bed every few years, and uber comfortable.
Get mobile!
I know it’s not something we like to talk about, but if you’re having problems getting around your home, maybe there’s too many steps, or you have problems getting out of the bath, then why not swallow your pride and look at ways you can make the whole thing easier? The steps problem is easy to solve – look at a stair lift or handles on the steps; the bath? Easy, install handles. See, it’s easier than you think, and the adjustments won’t look unsightly either.
Pimp it up
Now this is probably quite a shallow suggestion, because it’s basically down to appearance but if you have pride in your home, then you’ll feel more comfortable there, you’ll want to spend time there, and show it off, am I right? Of course I am, I’m always right. Basically it’s about choosing a décor that suits you, that reflects your personality, your family, your past, and your future. Make your home your sanctuary, somewhere you find calming and where you like to relax. This all adds up to one comfortable home.
Three simple ways to not only transform your home into an easy to get around, super-pretty, and downright comfortable abode, but three ways to adjust your home to suit your needs.
