Positivity a huge buzz word that everyone is harping on about. We all know that we have the potential to live a more fulfilling and positive life. But how?
When we are constantly bombarded with messages of war, economic crisis, environmental degradation and starvation (the list can go on), sometimes it feels like the weight of the world is on our shoulders and it’s just all too much. Whilst yes, it can be pretty darn depressing out there, living a positive life isn’t impossible and here’s how:
I found the best thing to do to start living a positive life, is focus on what you can offer the world. Whilst we can’t fix all the problems sometimes it can be helpful to just focus on something you can do to make the world a better place. This is where giving back to charity can really help. Giving back can come in many forms with two of the most common being either financial (charity donations) or through your time (volunteering). Depending on your situation can make it dependent on what you can offer but at least start with something and watch your mindset change. If you don’t have time, you can make a charity donation very easily online. Even if you can only offer a small amount, every donation counts towards making a difference to someone else’s life.
Giving back is also the best place to start when looking at how to live a more positive life. Not only are you making the world a better place but it makes you stop and appreciate just how good your life can be. Suddenly that traffic jam on the way to work or that rude person at the coffee shop isn’t such a big deal when compared to other suffering in the world. Once you move your mindset into a state of gratitude notice how much more positive you are in all areas of your life.
Your health can be a major factor in how you view yourself and ultimately, your life. Because this factor can weigh in so heavily, it can also become a roadblock of sorts, standing between you and a positive lifestyle. I’m sure you’re just like me in regards to seeing a doctor. Regular checkups manifest themselves into something seemingly arduous. However, I’m hoping that with so many Obamacare exemptions available now with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the idea of seeing a doctor won’t be so daunting. After all, a happy body not only leads to a physically-healthy self, but also a mentally-healthy self as well.
To be more positive we must also to learn to let go. Bad things happen to you and in this world. Just because you become a more happy positive person, doesn’t mean you will be immune to all the bad out there. The moment you learn to let go of the things in your life that aren’t serving you or that you can’t control, the more room you open up for positivity. So when bad things happen, stop, take a moment, feel whatever you need to feel and then it let it go.
If you do find yourself getting into a negative rut, take an honest look at who you surround yourself by. Negativity spreads negativity, so there is no point hanging around those who don’t serve you living a positive life. Positivity is also infectious, so go out there and spread it as much as you can.
