Ways to Transform your Outdoor Space

While the days may be long and cold, summer will be here before you know it. If your backyard is looking a little rough, consider transforming it into a place you’ll enjoy spending time in, and a somewhere you’ll be proud to show off to your friends.

There’s nothing better than entertaining outside or having a mid-summer barbecue with family and friends. Here are some great ways to transform your outdoor space:

Update your plants

If you want to really change your outdoor space, the first thing you should look at is the garden. If you’re really aiming to make it an interesting and welcoming space and you don’t know anything about flowers and plants, consider talking to a landscaper or outdoor designer. An expert can teach you how to make the most of your space and the best flowers and plants depending on how much time you have to look after it.

If you don’t have much time to spend on your garden, choose plants which are sturdy and don’t need much care. You may find that gardening becomes a good way to relax and destress.

Invest in a Deck

A deck will add value to your home, and give you somewhere nice to sit with friends and family. Consider investing in a deck which is sustainable such as trex decking from Arbordeck which is made from recycled materials. Add that together with your plants, and you’ll soon have a nice outdoor oasis.

Get some furniture

Once you have the plants and the deck sorted, it’s time to furnish your outdoor space. Buy some furniture, like a large wooden table and some sturdy chairs. Next you’ll need to ensure that you have enough shade for your visitors. Buy some large umbrellas for the table, along with bright cushions, tablecloths, plates, and cutlery.

Add some water

A water feature can completely change the way your backyard looks, whether it’s large or small. Still water is better for the environment than a fountain, so consider getting a pond with a few fish, a few water lettuce or hyacinths. If you put it on the ground you’ll also get to see frogs and toads frolic in the water. The only thing you’ll need to watch out for is mosquitos which breed in still water, so be sure to add some gold fish which will eat their larvae.

Build a treehouse

Got kids? Or adults who are young at heart? Build a treehouse and you’ll have entertainment for all those children who will come along with their parents. Along with keeping kids out of trouble, you’ll have an interesting talking point.

Buy a Hot Tub

Along with being a great way to relax after a long day at work, a hot tub is fun if you’re throwing a party. You’re sure to get plenty of use out of a tub, especially if it’s cold outside or you’re trying to impress the neighbours.
