The Best Things to see in London

If you’re planning a trip to London, you may be a little overwhelmed by all the things available to see and do. This is a city that’s jam-packed with great bars, clubs, pubs, museums, parks, and other attractions.

Luckily, we’ve got the lowdown on the best things to see in London. Whether you’re visiting for a few days or a few weeks, don’t miss these attractions:

Hampstead Health

This is one of London’s largest parks, set within a sprawling 790 acres. It also sits on one of the city’s highest points, with amazing views of London from Parliament HIll. You’ll find a number of ponds and plenty of wooded areas and grassy fields here. Don’t be surprised if you forget you’re in London, with such a large area filled with wildlife to explore.

Thames

The Thames has been bringing industry to London for centuries. It’s the longest river in England, and was strategically important to the English Kings, the Romans, and during both World Wars.

There are many different companies offering cruises up and down the Thames, departing as regularly as every 30 minutes. Take your camera, because you’ll go past several key sights, including the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament, and Tower Bridge.

You can even cruise at night, which is a lovely time to see the city all lit up. Feel like a splurge? Take a cruise served with afternoon tea or lunch.

Baker Street

This is one of London’s cultural staples. Many know Baker Street as the street where Sherlock Holmes lived, and you can find a museum dedicated to the detective near the Underground station.

Just around the corner is the internationally-famous Madame Tussauds, where you can get up close to incredibly life-like wax celebrities. Take a climb up Primrose Hill which is located nearby

Brick Lane

You may have heard of the film and book of the same title. This is the heart of the Bangladeshi community in London, and you’ll find road signs in both languages. This is the place to go if you’re craving something spicy for dinner, and you’ll also find plenty of sweet shops with delicious desserts.

Around the corner, you can find some art at Whitechapel Gallery, and there are also plenty of incredible pieces of street art throughout the neighbourhood.

Oxford Street

Not only is this the top spot for shopping in London, but it’s the busiest shopping street in Europe. If you’re lucky enough to visit London at Christmas time, the Christmas lights are incredible and the gorgeous window displays in Selfridges are a must-see.

Nightlife

London is full of fun things to do at night (check out CleopatraEscorts.co.uk), and you’ll be spoiled for choice if you’re looking for a night out. If you’re not the type to hit the bars, try a free walking tour and see the Gothic architecture of Westminster Cathedral and Big Ben.
