Top 3 Reasons to Visit Greece

Greece is a beautiful country, it’s one of the few places I’ve been in the world where it’s actually looked prettier than the postcards. Santorini is one of the most romantic places in the world. Yes, it’s crowded, but good reasons. Athens has a grungy feel to it, while being completely drenched in history. There’s numerous smaller islands you can explore for a day or two. Interested in visiting Greece, but not sure what to do? Here are my top 3 reasons to visit Greece:

1. It’s romantic.
Many people choose Greece as their honeymoon destination because it’s romantic. Greek people are romantic and passionate people, couple that with the fact this country is saturated with beautiful beaches and incredible sunsets, it makes a wonderful place for a honeymoon. But why not consider Greece for your wedding? A destination wedding in Greece likely costs a lot less than you think and provides excellent value. There’s so many gorgeous locations throughout the county, the food is really good, and who doesn’t want to visit Greece? Weddings in Mykonos are extremely popular because it’s a little cheaper than Santorini but still offers as much beauty and charm.
2. The Food
It’s been said that the people around the MediterraneanĀ such as the Greeks, live the longest, healthiest lives due to their fresh diets rich in olive oil and other fresh produce. Greeks are serious about food and everything I tried while there was delicious, even a cheap Gyro from a food truck. I loved trying their pastries and desserts, many of which had names I couldn’t even pronounce. The food is incredible, so make sure you sample a lot of different foods while there.

3. The Sunsets
While sitting on a ledge in Santorini, I saw one of the most stunning sunsets of my life. There were crowds of people around me, watching the sun fade into the distance while painting yellow and orange colours over the white buildings. It really looked better than a postcard. At the time, I was traveling alone, but felt quite content enjoying watching the sky change colour while listening to music in the background. I enjoyed watching the sunsets throughout other islands in Greece, but the one in Santorini was my most memorable.

Whether your next trip to Greece is for a honeymoon, a wedding, or just because, I know you’ll have a wonderful time. Don’t forget your camera, this is one destination where you’ll want to take a bunch of photos.
