5 Great Ways to Freshen Up Your Bedroom

I feel like a change of seasons is a wonderful time to make subtle changes around your home: you can easily make small modifications to things you already have or some inexpensive purchases to add a little bit of style into your bedroom. As we come into the cooler months, I tend to spend even more time at home, making it more important to have a home that I enjoy being in. Here are 5 of my favourite tips for freshening up your bedroom and don’t forget to #RenovateRedecorateInspire, if you’re wanting a bit more help with renovation, check out the Julian Charles ebook for Renovate Redecorate Inspire.

1. New Bedding
Spend a little time thinking about how much of your life your spend in bed: chances are it’s around the average of 1/3 of your day spent in bed. There’s essentially no where else you’ll spend more time in the one spot during your life. As such, I think it’s important to invest in a good quality bed and to ensure your bedding is quality and comfortable too. Julian Charles has an extensive range of beautiful bedding that will suit all styles and budgets so check their site out for some new inspiration.

2. Supportive Pillow
While we’re on the topic for how important beds are and sleep, I can’t miss out a small comment about pillows. Many of us buy pillows when we’re young and never think to replace them. There are numerous different types of pillows that provide varying support, it is important to find a pillow that will adequately support your neck and head during your sleep so you don’t wake up with a stiff neck. This is even more important these days because so many of us are changing our posture while working at a desk and looking at our phones. I feel like more people than ever are complaining of sore necks and back pain. A new pillow is a great way to invest in your health and comfort.

3. A Good Lamp
You may already have a lamp, and so perhaps you could consider trying a new bulb to change things up and change the mood of your room. If you don’t have a lamp, you may be surprised to find how much more comfortable it is to be in a dimly lit room while reading a book. Lighting is an expensive but dramatic way to change the way a space feels.

4. A Fresh Coat of Paint
Chances are your bedroom is either white or some kind of variation of beige. Many people try to stay neutral with their rooms if that’s your preference, no judgement. But the room can dramatically change if you add a splash of colour – either on all the walls, or add in a feature wall. It can be very striking if you make the wall where the bed is coloured. You don’t need to go crazy, something with a little more colour but is still somewhat muted is a great option.

5. Some Art
Decorate your room! Add some photos of loved family members or of special adventures. Buy prints online that add some colour and personality to your room. I personally like to buy art prints online and get them framed locally so they look a little more professional. Art is a quite and often inexpensive way to transform your bedroom – but of course with art the sky is the limit with price. Set a budget before you go and find something that you feel comfortable purchasing.

Updating your room is a great way to make you feel more comfortable and can even help you sleep better. Use these 5 tips to transform your room into something you really love!
