The holidays are almost here, and that means parties. But it can sometimes be difficult to stay stylish while still looking unique and standing out from a sea of outfits which all look the same.
Along with Christmas parties, where you’ll want to wear something classic yet holiday appropriate, New Years is the chance to take a few more fashion risks while letting your hair down.
Here are some top tips for surviving this party season in style:
Lace is a great option for Christmas parties. Whether in the classic black colour or in a bright colour that pops, lace dresses can be both sedate and sexy and can be dressed up or down. In fact a classic lace dress is a must for any wardrobe, and can be recycled for weddings, funerals graduations and all sorts of formal events.
While every girl should own a little black dress, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t own a few in different styles. A black dress is a great option for New Years and you can choose a classic look and dress it up with accessories or let the dress tell the story with sexy cutouts or embellishments.
If you’re hoping to meet someone special, or simply have people saying “wow” when they see you, New Years Eve is the perfect time to take some fashion risks. It’s the one night of the year where sequins and rhinestones are expected, so why not make the most of it and choose a dress which will shine a bright as your personality?
If you’re going for a dress with a lot of embellishment, keep your heels and other accessories classic and restrained- letting the dress have its moment in the spotlight is the best option and too many accessories can make you look like a Vegas showgirl.
Say it with shoes
If you have enough dresses to choose from (and who does really?) you may be in the market for some new shoes. Choosing a cute (or sexy) pair of heels can take your outfit to the next level and you’ll get plenty of wear out of them over the new year.
Your style and colour of shoe will largely depend on your dress. Black goes with most styles and colours, although nude heels are still popular and patterned and embellished shoes can dress up plainer dresses. A good pair of party shoes are a must this holiday season, so be sure to choose a pair that you can see wearing to at least a few parties.
Depending on the climate, accessories may be a great headband or clip, or a (fake) fur coat. Jewellery is a must, and the level of bling will depend on your dress and shoes- as always, take off one piece before you leave the house to keep yourself from competing with the Christmas tree. Classic gold and silver pieces are a good idea, or dress up a plainer dress with a statement bracelet or necklace. Eve products sells this great Cork tote, that makes a wonderful accessory.
